Svaroopa® Yoga, (pronounced Svah-roo-pa) is one of the primary styles of hatha yoga taught in America.  Often called “the Yoga of Bliss,” it is a yoga style that is accessible to everyone –

WHAT MAKES SVAROOPA® YOGA DISTINCTIVE?

Svaroopa® Yoga focuses in gradually unraveling the tensions hidden deep in the muscles surrounding your spine.   In each class the teacher assists you in supporting your body using blankets and other props in poses that allow the most contracted areas of your body to begin to release deeply stored tension. 

After a deeply relaxing guided awareness, we begin with poses that release tension in the tight muscles around the tailbone.  Then we follow with poses that create changes through the sacrum, lumbar vertebrae, and the rest of the way up the spine through the shoulders and neck.  As the spine begins to release stored tension, the effects radiate throughout the entire body.  The result is a definite reduction in muscular tension.

Svaroopa® Yoga focuses on:

• Easy movements that decompress the spine, making it possible for your body’s natural healing capacity to take over 

• Precise alignments in carefully selected poses
• Use of props (thick blankets, chairs, and blocks) to support your body comfortably in the poses-- allowing greater release of the tensions stored in the deepest layers of your body
